Module programs
Explore your options, expand your skills, obtain additional qualifications
The module programs at FAU consist of modules from existing degree programs which are brought together to form a new interdisciplinary program. Module programs can be helpful for deciding which degree program or main subject to study in the future.
Target group and requirements
The module program is particularly suitable for giving school leavers the opportunity to explore a wide range of subjects. Students and professionals can expand their skills and shape their portfolio to suit their further academic or professional career by gaining additional qualifications.
Prospective students require a suitable university entrance qualification in order to be able to enroll at the university. No fees are charged apart from the semester fee.
Student status and BAföG rules
Students in the module program count as students pursuant to the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act (Section 87(1) BayHIG) and enjoy all benefits of enrollment.
However, module programs are not eligible for BAföG funding. This does have one advantage, though. It means that changing to a regular degree program at FAU after the module program does not count as changing degree program. This can prove helpful later on, as students who receive BAföG funding are generally only allowed to change once over the duration of their studies.
