Since winter semester 2019/2020, the Faculty of Medicine at FAU has offered the degree program “Medicine Erlangen/Bayreuth”. The feature of this degree program is the clinical training at Medizincampus Oberfranken in cooperation with Klinikum Bayreuth, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen and Bezirkskrankenhaus Bayreuth. The innovative cooperative program aims to counteract the shortage of doctors, to ensure local medical care and to strengthen the region as a whole.

The Dr. Reimeis observatory in Bamberg has belonged to FAU since the 1960s. It is the furthest north of all University institutions. Scientists here carry out research into astrophysical topics and offer relevant seminars, practical courses and lectures. Astronomy and astrophysics is part of the Department of Physics.

Water sports in the Franconian region? Of course! The area known as the Franconian lakes (fränkische Seenland) offers plenty of opportunities to try out all kinds of sports. The water sports centre of FAU’s Department of Sport Science and Sport is located at the Brombachsee, to the north of Pleinfeld. It is open to both students and staff, and offers courses in, for example, sailing.
FAU researchers worked together with students, school pupils and other volunteers to build a full-size replica Roman patrol and convoy boat, before putting it to the test and even travelling all the way to the Black Sea.

The FAU map service helps you find your way around the University buildings. The results are generated by the map service of the Computer Centre (RRZE) and show the various institutes of the University in the correct surroundings.
