The Mäanderhöhle cave near Bamberg was previously regarded as an archaeological sensation. However, Julia Blumenröther, a former student at the Institute of Prehistory and Early History, has demonstrated in her Master's thesis that the markings inside the cave are not fertility symbols carved by humans.

Researchers at FAU are currently working on making cutting-edge X-ray technology even more sophisticated. The researchers' ultimate goal is for their new technique to be used in medical imaging and in non-destructive testing in industry.
