The production of methanol from biomass could be simpler and decentralized in the future. Researchers at FAU are proposing a method with which plant-based raw and waste materials can be processed in a self-sufficient process under mild reaction conditions.
Each semester, FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger visits professors in their institutes. He visits them there to talk about their research, to discover what is close to their heart and to get to know them better. In episode 30, the President visits Prof. Dr. Peter Uhrig. He is Chair of Big Data Linguistics at FAU.
Dr. Carlos L. Bassani with the project “Kinetic Pathways to Control Nanocrystal Shapes” (kineticSHAPES) and Prof. Dr. Adrian Meier with the project “Social Well-Being from Hybrid Interactions in Hybrid Work” (HYIHY) have each been awarded a Starting Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) and will receive €1.5 million in funding each.
Great success for FAU: The German Research Foundation (DFG) has accepted Prof. Dr. Ruth Beckervordersandforth, Professor of Molecular Neuropathology at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), for Heisenberg funding.
The University Council functions like a supervisory board: It supports FAU with strategic decisions and advises the University during development planning. FAU has been able to recruit prominent figures for this voluntary body, including several CEO. Find out who they are in this video.
Each semester, FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger visits professors in their institutes. He visits them there to talk about their research, to discover what is close to their heart and to get to know them better. In episode 29, the President visits Prof. Dr. Kai Phillip Schmidt. He holds the Chair of Theoretical Physics.
If you are intrigued about what Hansel and Gretel have to do with cell memory, you have to ask Dr. Victoria Guglielmotti. After completing her doctoral degree in chemistry, she is now conducting research at the Institute of Condensed Matter Physics. At the end of last year, the researcher was awarded one of the sought-after European Postdoctoral Fellowships.
A video has been produced about prospective teaching assistants in the “Inklusive Bildung in Bayern (IBB)” project. It was produced by the Multimedia Center of the RRZE, and it is now available in FAU’s video portal.
In around five and a half minutes, the video explains the background and aim of ...
Many national CO2 taxes are too low to effectively reduce emissions and primarily serve symbolic and fiscal goals. This is shown by a recent study by energy policy researchers from FAU, the University of Potsdam and the Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS) at the GFZ Helmholtz Center for Geosciences Potsdam.
Each semester, FAU President Prof. Dr. Joachim Hornegger visits professors in their institutes. He visits them there to talk about their research, to discover what is close to their heart and to get to know them better. In episode 28, the President visits Prof. Dr. Grieshaber-Bouyer. He is professor of Clinical Systems Immunology.
