Additive manufacturing is the technical term for what most of us know as 3D printing. In industry this technology enables components to be produced in almost any shape and quantity. At FAU, researchers at Collaborative Research Centre 814 – Additive manufacturing (SFB 814) are researching ways to further improve this technology.

From 6 to 10 July 2015, around 200 experts from all over the world will be meeting at the Loops '15 conference in Erlangen to discuss the results of the latest research in quantum gravity. The general public are also invited to attend the public lecture by Italian researcher Prof. Carlo Rovelli at 8.30 p.m. on 9 July (subject to a fee).

Many medical students show symptoms of stress-related disorders such as depression and anxiety, even in the early stages of their studies. These are the findings of a recent study by researchers at FAU. In their work the researchers also developed strategies that students can learn at an early stage to reduce stress-related risk factors.

On the 70th anniversary of the start of the Nuremberg Trials: an interview with legal expert Prof. Dr. Christoph Safferling. Prof. Safferling is Vice President of the Advisory Board of the International Nuremberg Principles Academy (IANP), which was inaugurated on 6 June 2015.

Dr. Davide Amato has been the scientific director of the Addiction Medicine Laboratory since 2010 at the Psychiatric and Psychotherapeutic Clinic at FAU University Hospital. The research focus of the Italian is in the field of neurochemistry of schizophrenia and its pharmacotherapy.

The two Erlangen-based Fraunhofer Institutes IIS and IISB, and FAU, together with Siemens and other partners from industry and research, are combining their strengths in a new centre for electronic systems: Leistungszentrum Elektroniksysteme. The aim is to strengthen the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region's position and international reputation as Germany's leader in the field of electronic systems.
