Components that store information magnetically rather than electronically could revolutionise computer technology and meet the demand for higher and higher storage capacities. FAU researchers have developed an innovative new material that could be used in such components.

A research team led by the University of Bonn with researchers from FAU have discovered how cells in the body can detect the genetic material of retroviruses. The pathogen of the immunodeficiency disease AIDS, the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) also belongs to this group.
