The University is offering a range of lectures on these topics during the summer semester and is involved in a range of activities concerning refugees, co-ordinated by FAU INTEGRA. These include the 'Study opportunities for refugees' project that was launched in summer 2015.

Doctoral candidates at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy have learnt from some of the best in the world. Along with many renowned international researchers, Nobel laureate in chemistry Brian Kobilka recently visited the University for a symposium held by Research Training Group 1910.

FAU has demonstrated its strength in research and its powers of innovation once again, receiving an excellent rating in the international U-Multirank university ranking in the Research and Knowledge Transfer categories for the third year running in 2016.

The human brain is able to change the anatomy and function of individual cells or whole areas of the brain to adapt to new requirements. However, one particular gene that is involved in this amazing transformation process can also cause disaster.

FAU is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world for materials science for the third year in a row in the latest QS World University Ranking by Subject.

Junior professor Dr. Aline Bozec has received the most important award for young researchers in Germany from the German Research Foundation (DFG). The biochemist will be presented with the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize – which is worth 20,000 euros – in Bonn on 18 May 2016.
